Everyone has a talent of some degree, you were lucky to hone in on yours early to make a difference. Thanks again

  • I really like your videos. They make me think, laugh and smile. They are interesting and I learn new ideas from them. Thats all you. You have a very good mind with courage and will power. You have made something here to be proud of. I do things like graphics and music. Sometimes I get stuck and just need inspiration. But when I get it.... it is so powerful to be motivated and have a direction for something that makes you happy and inspired. Possibly you could use some new mediums. You could check out some new products and see if they make you interested to do new videos about things you didn't think about yet. You could get a community interaction going for submissions. Bottom line your a gem and you should know when you shine people see and drawn to you. That means you got it. Thank you so much for all your hard work. It looks great. 👍 👍 ~ Joe Norero

  • Hey, I have this idea using old aluminum cans cut for sheet metal to make a air regenerator like a homemade ERV. Machine a tool and die to stamp the not flat heat exchanger inner section maybe thinking will be better with the pyramid stepped tool surface also if like triangle shaped... then just easy sandwich with some aluminum all thread the heat exchanger together. thinking don't even need to weld and can just silicone or high temp glue gun the alternating layers for each side. Seems like can be really small and effective still. Utility from waste.

  • Hey Laura, what i found out about bad ideas is, that often the bad idea is sparking a good one. For me Ideas and the realization are processes, which evolve over time. And whats been even more interesting for me: Who decides whats a good or rather bad idea? Sometimes i find that a bad Idea is just bad, cause i dont see the good aspects. Im building a lot by my self from furnitur to motorcycle baggageholderrags. As much as i hate it when i hit a wall with my idea, so i like the process of imagination and how the realization could turn out. Anyway, liebe Grüße aus Berlin und eine schöne Weihnachtszeit

  • Perhaps it is time to fix on a craft approach that inspires you the most, and stick with it. This will usually be a set of tools that you just love using. If it's your auto tools, start that arc. If it is creations from welding - well take on commissions. Let people who want to give you their shekels give you projects. Then the projects will come on their own. Your a noodler - noodle here - noodle there. No specific direction or arc. Yet you have abilities to create a line of very sellable items if you stick w/ one approach. I think your a film makers, meself. I went thru the same thing in the 1970's - tried everything using my hands, then settled on black smithing and just finished my 40th year and have enjoyed every single moment. Start narrowing your focus and break through. It is time !

  • That was a great video, the few of your "bad" ideas made me laugh out loud. Thank you!! Anyway, I am working in IT. The worst meetings are the ones where nobody shares an idea because of being afraid it could be a bad one and everybody might laugh at it. But in the end, any idea , especially the bad ones, starts the discussion and with it the process to find a great solution! I feel the same with working in my shop (my hobby): any idea that makes me start working in the shop is a good one, as ist starts the processs ... Sorry, I had to post this on LinkedIn, I hope this is ok. If not, drop me note.

  • I was not sure you see this comment I made on another video of yours. So I moved it over here: You mentioned that you are always getting the question: "why don't you start from scratch?" That is definitely a different approach to design than what you tend to do. What ever your finished creation ends up being is imbued with what it was to begin with. The trailer inspires its own rebirth to a new state of being. It has a personality and a story that travels from the former state to the new state of being. I don't think one gets this kind of glow from scratch.

  • Is there a perfect idea? Not sure everyone would agree and come to the same conclusion :) I would argue that many of the ingenious things made, all started with an idea considered odd or even crazy. The process is often where the real magic is happening, where the idea evolves, and by showing the process I would be really happy if that is the spark that triggers someone else to make something of their own. Good luck with the next 1000 bad ideas! I'm sure many will like them! Thanks Laura

  • Laura, I absolutely love your ideas and videos, they are a plethora of creative and inspirational pieces. Since I’ve started woodworking, I’ve always feared the day I ran out of ideas. I have a ton in my head with no end in sight. If I ever do run out of ideas. I’d think I’d want to improve an old project, branch out incorporating a new task, or testing my ability on a far-fetched project. If you need a suggestion, my next project is to create a scissor jack out of wood that will raise my mitre saw about 15 inches beneath my workbench by a hand crank. The flip-top workbenches don’t excite me at all. Enjoy your free time, it won’t last long. 🤣

  • Sometimes I think Human Beings never really invented anything other than the methods to replicate our observable world. We didn't invent fire, just ways to make it when we needed it. We certainly didn't invent electricity, we just figured out how it worked, then how to make and control it. It's the same with most things that involve creative ways to realise potential. Observation, perspiration and a lot of improvisation before it clicks into place and we have that Ahah! moment.

  • When we run out of ideas what we can do... try to walk in the shoes of someone you usually walk past... just for a minute. The guy who is missing an arm, the guy who can't talk because of cancer, the guy who can't smile bc the last thing he remembers is a smiling family member a second before the bomb hit. We sometimes feel powerless, we feel like we can do anything but struggle to find a reason for doing it. Sure i can build a rocket propelled bed with Netflix streaming and built in Shiazu massage, but why? It would generate klicks but it would not even make my life better. Maybe redirecting creativity when we run out of reasons why towards helpinging each other is the way to go... i am just speculating here thou ^^

    DasIlluDasIllu4 maanden geleden
  • Well... It happens to me very often, actually. Yeah, it's annoying, but, it's ok to block sometimes, because you need to "rest" somehow your creativity, and then, it just rushes to you a whole lot of ideas, and having a place to remember all the bad ideas, it makes you tinker about... "Hey, i did that wrong maybe if I do that now..." Or some other stuff that you didn't had in the past, skills or specific tools or materials that you didn't know about and you do now... That's the way your body have to say "i need a creative rest". I just love all the stuff you make and I've been following you quite some years now, so thanks for all this good content. I just wanted to share some warmth with you

So, genug philosophiert.

A possible way to think about what you do comes from the pages of Terry Pratchett's Discworld books where, in the city of Ankh-Morpork can be found the Street of Cunning Artificers. I think you'd fit right in there :D wiki.lspace.org/mediawiki/index.php/Street_of_Cunning_Artificers
